District Profile
Alabaster City Schools (ACS) is located in Alabaster, Alabama, seventeen miles south of Downtown Birmingham. Alabaster offers a suburban lifestyle while maintaining access to urban opportunities. Alabaster has experienced remarkable growth over the last ten years, further contributing to the success of the school system.
Formerly a part of the Shelby County School System, Alabaster-area schools officially formed as a municipal school system independent of Shelby County on July 1, 2013. Alabaster City Schools currently consists of five schools. The district has two elementary schools, an intermediate school, a middle school, and a high school. Two major capital projects are currently underway, including a new Central Office building and a new career tech academy ("ACS Champions Craft Academy").
The Alabaster Board of Education is comprised of city council-appointed board members who serve five-year staggered terms. Current ACS Board of Education members include Mr. Adam Moseley (President), Mr. Derek Henderson (Vice President), Dr. John Myrick, Mrs. Misty Johnson, and Dr. Kristalyn Lee.
