Students running on a track

April 5th, 2024

ACS - Under sunny skies, students from both Alabaster and Pelham came together once again for the United Track and Field Event.

This annual event, a joint effort between Alabaster City Schools and Pelham City Schools, brings together students from all campuses in those two school systems for a half-day of Olympics-style games, food, and fun.  An opening ceremony, featuring “The Flame of Hope” torch, marks the beginning of this event, which is traditionally held at Thompson High School.

For 2024, more than 100 students from across both systems participated in multiple track and field events. Karen Evans, lead adaptive PE teacher, helps coordinate United Track and Field. She is joined by multiple educators - and student peer helpers - in executing this much anticipated event.

For their efforts and achievements, students receive ribbons, medals, and other recognition. See a complete online album of photos and videos from the 2024 United Track and Field event in this Google Photos Album.
