ACS – Alabaster City Schools (ACS) welcomed its newest educators today during a comprehensive New Teacher Orientation. The event, designed to welcome new employees into the ACS culture and prepare them for the upcoming school year, was a big success.

Superintendent Dr. Wayne Vickers kicked off the orientation with an inspiring welcome address. Dr. Vickers emphasized the district’s commitment to excellence in education and the vital role each new teacher plays in achieving this mission.

The orientation featured a series of informative high-level presentations, ensuring that the new educators are well-versed in various critical areas of the school system. Presentations were conducted by representatives from key departments, including:

Curriculum & Instruction: Focused on the district’s educational standards, teaching methodologies, and resources available to support effective teaching practices.

Student Services: Highlighted the support systems available to students, including counseling, health services, and extracurricular activities.

Exceptional Education & 504 Services: Covered the services and accommodations provided to students with disabilities, ensuring an inclusive and supportive educational environment.

Dyslexia Awareness: Offered training on identifying and supporting students with dyslexia, promoting awareness and effective instructional strategies.

Technology: Provided an overview of the technological tools and platforms used within the district, aiming to enhance teaching and learning experiences.

"Our goal is to ensure that every new teacher, every new employee feels supported and equipped to succeed from day one. We are thrilled to have such a talented group of educators join our ACS family, and we are committed to providing them with the resources and guidance they need to thrive," Dr. Vickers said.

New Teacher Orientation provided new teachers with the opportunity to engage with their peers, ask questions, and gain valuable insights into the ACS culture and expectations.
