GYM FULL OF PARENTS SEATED WATCHING STUDENTS PERFORM ON STAGE

ACS - Veterans were celebrated across Alabaster City Schools this week, with each campus honoring those who serve/served our country with celebratory and poignant tributes.

From elementary to secondary, the programs included musical/choral performances, recognition of each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, and recognition of faculty/staff who have served in the Armed Forces. Local veterans and other community members were invited to each ceremony as honored guests.

Veterans Day is a U.S. holiday observed annually on November 11 to honor military veterans who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Originally known as Armistice Day, it was established to mark the end of World War I, which officially concluded on November 11, 1918, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

In 1954, following World War II and the Korean War, the holiday was renamed Veterans Day to recognize all U.S. veterans. Communities across the nation observe Veterans Day with parades, ceremonies, and other events that pay tribute to veterans. Many schools, businesses, and government offices hold special programs to honor veterans and promote understanding of the significance of their service.
