ALABASTER – The third installment of this school year’s ACS EL (English Learner) Parent Academy Night was a tremendous success, with dozens of families gaining more insight into various district programs and resources.
The November 13th event at Thompson Intermediate School gave EL parents and students valuable insights into scholarships, curricular strategies, and the district’s forthcoming workforce development center, the ACS Champions Craft Academy.
Both general and breakout sessions were held in various areas of the school, including discussions surrounding math and reading strategies for parents of students in grades K-6.
Alabaster City Schools’ Supervisor of Parent and Student Engagement, Mr. Jose Alvarado, manages a team that plans each EL Parent Academy. EL Parent Nights were held in August and September, with the next meeting slated for January 2025.
