(Birmingham, AL ) Today, the Thompson High School JROTC had the prestigious honor of presenting the Colors and leading the field at the Birmingham VA Hospital’s Suicide Awareness Memorial Ruck. This special event marked the conclusion of Suicide Awareness Month, held on the last day of September.
The cadets stood proudly as they participated in this important cause, raising awareness for suicide prevention and honoring those impacted. The Memorial Ruck is part of ongoing efforts to bring attention to veteran suicide prevention and promote mental health resources within the community.
What made the event even more meaningful is that, out of all the JROTC programs in the Birmingham area, it was Thompson’s cadets who were invited to lead. This speaks volumes about their exemplary reputation and the trust placed in them by the community.
We are incredibly proud of our JROTC cadets for their leadership, dedication, and service today. Their involvement in this event highlights not only their commitment to excellence but also their compassion for causes that impact lives in a profound way.
The entire Thompson community is grateful for their representation and for shining a light on this vital issue.
