Thompson High School proudly hosted a ceremony to honor Cadet Ethan Crook, who received the Silver Valor Award, the second-highest honor for JROTC cadets nationwide, for his heroic actions on the evening of September 13, 2024. Colonel Matthew Tipton, HQ JROTC Commander from the Department of the Air Force, presented the award.
The ceremony took place in the school’s Performing Arts Center, where students, faculty, and community members gathered to recognize Cadet Crook’s bravery and selflessness.
Following a Thompson Warriors home football game, Cadet Crook encountered an overturned vehicle. Without hesitation, he stopped, pulled the victim from the vehicle, and administered potentially life-saving care until paramedics arrived. He provided a thorough report to emergency responders and continued to assist the paramedics on scene.
The Silver Valor Award recognizes extraordinary courage and self-sacrifice. Thompson High School is honored to have hosted this event, celebrating Cadet Crook’s remarkable actions, which reflect the highest ideals of the JROTC program and the strength and character of the Thompson community.
