Thompson High School's wrestling program has reached unprecedented heights, with both the boys' and girls' teams securing state championships at the AHSAA Wrestling State Championships held at Huntsville's Von Braun Center.
Girls' Wrestling Team Makes History
In a landmark achievement, the Thompson Warriors clinched the inaugural sanctioned Class 6A/7A girls' wrestling state title. The team amassed 150 points, outpacing Daphne by 14 points to secure the championship. This victory underscores Thompson's commitment to promoting and excelling in girls' wrestling.
Standout performances included:
Kelsey Seigler: Captured the 106-pound division title with a 4-3 decision over Daphne's Alanah Girard, concluding her season at 36-6.
Lynleigh Weltzin: Triumphed in the 120-pound division, edging out Grissom's Jessalynn Allen with an 8-7 decision, and finishing the season 33-10.
Elizabeth Rosenstiel: Dominated the 145-pound division, securing three pins during the tournament and ending her season with an impressive 43-1 record.

Boys' Wrestling Team Reclaims Dominance
The Warriors claimed their 10th state title in program history and first since 2022 by scoring 221 points, beating out Vestavia Hills’ total of 182 points. The two teams were separated by just 8.5 points going into the final day of the three-day tournament before Thompson claimed four individual titles.
