Thompson High School senior Harper Sandlin has earned 2nd place in the prestigious 2025 State Superintendent’s Visual Art Exhibit for her incredible piece, “Watch What You Eat.”
Harper’s artwork is a unique three-dimensional mixed media piece that merges her passion for drawing food and nail art. She skillfully incorporated digital art, colored pencil, and 3D gel nail medium to create an eye-catching composition. At first glance, the food items in the piece appear realistic, but upon closer inspection, viewers discover they are not what they seem. This intriguing concept was inspired by Harper’s own life experiences, encouraging observers to take a deeper look at the details.
This achievement is a huge honor, as the 2025 SSVA Exhibit showcases some of the best student artwork from across Alabama. Harper’s talent, creativity, and dedication to her craft have rightfully earned her a spot among the top young artists in the state.
