TIS - Welcome to an exciting month at Thompson Intermediate School (TIS), where our students and staff continue to excel and shine! Here are some highlights and updates:

Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Fourth Grade ELA Teacher Christy O'Dell for being named the TIS 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year! Her dedication and hard work make a lasting impact on our students and school community.

Student Achievements

Our Brain Booster students are making incredible progress in reading and math, showcasing their hard work and determination. Winter Aimsweb and ExactPath diagnostics also revealed significant growth in reading and math across the school. Keep up the fantastic work, students!

Exciting Events and Activities

  • Instructional Rounds: Magma Math Instructional Rounds have taken place, offering valuable insights into our innovative teaching practices.

  • Reading Data Meetings: Coaches, administrators, and teachers met to celebrate and discuss the great progress happening in reading at TIS.

  • Field Trips:

    • 4th graders recently enjoyed the annual Water Festival field trip.

    • 5th graders look forward to their annual field trip to the McWane Center.

Professional Development

  • AP Conference: Mrs. Carlee is representing TIS at the AP Conference.

  • Math PD: Traywick and Hayes will attend the Everyone Counts math professional development session.

  • LETRS Training: Teachers and administrators are participating in LETRS training to enhance literacy instruction.

Upcoming Events

  • Jump Rope for Heart: Our annual event is underway! Join us in promoting heart health and community spirit.

  • Math and Reading Glow Night: Mark your calendars for Jan. 26th and join us for a night of fun and learning.

  • STEM Night: Planning for this exciting event is in progress. Stay tuned for more details.

  • Peer Helpers Visit: THS Peer Helpers will visit on Jan. 31st for report card conferences, providing valuable support to our students.

Celebrating Student Success

  • ExactPath Trophies: Students are receiving trophies for achieving their math goals through ExactPath.

  • PTO Incentives: Thanks to our PTO, students were rewarded with special incentives for meeting their reading and math goals. Way to go, TIS students!
