On February 13th, Thompson Intermediate School's 5th graders traveled to Thompson Middle School for a memorable Liberty Learning Celebration, bringing together students, teachers, and families to honor heroes and leaders within the community. The event was the culmination of weeks of civics lessons and hands-on activities designed to teach students about citizenship, leadership, and the importance of giving back.
Students proudly showcased what they’ve learned by recognizing local community leaders who exemplify service and dedication. From firefighters and police officers to teachers and healthcare workers, these individuals were celebrated as real-life heroes. The students’ heartfelt speeches and creative tributes highlighted their understanding of leadership and the positive impact these individuals have on their lives.
Through the Liberty Learning program, students have been diving into civics education, exploring the principles of democracy, and learning what it means to be a good citizen. Teachers emphasized the importance of teamwork, empathy, and active participation in making a difference in their communities.
The celebration wasn’t just a look back at what they’ve learned; it was also a call to action. Students expressed their excitement to take their classroom knowledge into the real world, pledging to become leaders in their own right. Whether through volunteer work, school initiatives, or simply lending a helping hand, the students are ready to make a positive impact.
The school is grateful for the community’s support in fostering these important values and looks forward to seeing the positive changes these young leaders will bring. Thank you to everyone who participated in making the Liberty Learning Celebration a success. Together, we are shaping the next generation of community heroes and leaders.
