More than 640 students, parents, families and 60 teachers and partner booths gathered for an exciting evening of hands-on learning at Thompson Intermediate’s annual STEM Night. The event featured a variety of engaging activities designed to ignite curiosity and exploration in science, technology, engineering, and math. From interactive experiments to creative challenges, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
One of the most popular stations of the night was the Leaning Tower of Cups, where students used force and stability to land ping pong balls in their leaning cups. The leaderboard was impressive! The hydro-dipping station was also a huge hit, allowing students to experiment with water transfer printing to create colorful, one-of-a-kind designs. Estimation mysteries kept minds sharp as students and families put their math skills to the test, guessing quantities with strategic thinking.
Teachers created a variety of engaging STEM stations that encouraged hands-on learning and problem-solving. Families also had the opportunity to visit vendor booths, which offered additional STEM-related experiences and resources. Th first 200 students to attend received a STEM night gift bag, adding to the excitement of the night. There were also many raffle winners for items including LEGO sets, engineering, and science kits!
TIS also hosted various educational, city, state, and national partners to provide education for their STEM-related fields, including Specification Rubber, AMSTI, McWane Science Center, Forensic Analysts, and more!
Throughout the event, laughter and excitement filled the air as students explored new concepts and discovered the fun in STEM. The night was not only educational but also a great way for families to bond while engaging in interactive learning experiences. Thanks to the dedication of teachers, staff, and vendors, STEM Night was a fantastic success, leaving students inspired and eager to continue exploring the world of STEM. TIS wants to thank Mr. Nathan Renew and Mrs. Trisha Brown for their extensive commitment to making STEM Night a success!
