We are so blessed and grateful for another great year at Thompson Middle School! We want to thank our community, central office, parents, students, teachers, and staff for your continued teamwork in working with our students! As we close out the 2023-2024 School Year, we will miss our outgoing 8th graders and hope they enjoyed their time at Thompson Middle School! We can't wait to see what all they accomplish at THS! We also want to give a special thanks to our amazing PTO who supported TMS with so many events and activities this school year!
There are several highlights from this past school year. With regard to facilities, students and staff were able to utilize updated facilities that included new hallway pathing and classroom locations for each grade level at TMS. This new structure created easier class changes and allowed each grade level to have its own section in the building. In addition, students were able to use the newly renovated restrooms throughout the building and new serving lines in the cafeteria. Academically, students were able to enjoy "Rewards Day" at the end of each nine weeks.
Other highlights include TMS being named a CLAS Banner School of Distinction, specifically for incorporating the Girls Rock STEM Club and the Girls Rock STEM Conference. In addition, the TMS Girls Bowling Team won the metro championship! We had amazing performances by the band, choir, and theater departments, along with the first TMS ACAP Academic Pep Rally! TMS recognized approximately 70 new inductees into the National Junior Honor Society and almost 100 8th graders for the Presidential Scholars Award which includes students with an A average for all three years of middle school. TMS participated in several community service projects, some of which included Toys for Tots, Joe Jackson's Dog World, and the Doug Trotter Canned Food Drive.
This summer, TMS is facilitating our first Summer Learning Camp. Almost 100 students are joining us each day in the month of June for summer learning and fun. We are so excited about our new summer learning program and are enjoying working with the students who are with us.
We hope everyone has time to relax and enjoy time with their families this summer. Students can continue to read by participating in the ACS Reading Challenge. All information is on the TMS website. Make sure you check out our website and social media platforms for all upcoming information. Thank you again for your continued support of Thompson Middle School! We hope to continue our progress during the 24-25 school year and look forward to seeing our students in August!
