TMS - Thompson Middle School's National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) shattered existing fundraising records this year by raising $3,000.00 for Breakthrough T1D, formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Breakthrough T1D exists as a leading organization in the search for a cure for Type 1 diabetes. TMS NJHS students participated in the annual T1D Walk as part of their culminating fundraising efforts, joining people from across Central Alabama.
Prior to the Walk, Breakthrough T1D announced special presentations. Additionally, a parade recognizing those afflicted with Type 1 diabetes was held, a parade in which TMS cheerleaders participated. Teachers Michael Wilbanks and Kimberly Sawyer serve as faculty sponsors of Thompson Middle School's National Junior Honor Society.
